Instead of using words like always and never f.ex. we are setting positive intention in the Here and Now, and each moment that follows, by using the following words instead:
When I..
As I notice..
As I start..
As I begin..
I haven’t as yet, today I can, and tomorrow I will..
Once more I will reconnect with my inner resources, self-belief and strengths
Once more I will be able to do, what I couldn’t do for a period..
At the moment ..
Up until now…
The things that I have tried so far haven’t worked…
#new years resolutions#
What does #new year# mean?
New is what was not before.
A practice, an insight, an attitude towards self, one’s history, towards others, towards the world.
A #re-set#. Step by little step towards your new self, your desired self.
We become unwell because of old and bad habits. These include unhealthy attitudes towards self, others and the world. These can produce blockages, rendering one feeling stuck.
A new start, a truly new year could start with an #embrace# of life in general.
#Saying yes# to the world, #saying yes# to oneself, #saying yes# to others.
Saying yes to the commencement of a journey towards your #full potential#.
Why not take the first step by signing up for an initial consultation to find out what #solution-focused therapy# is all about?
Take back control
There is ample information about #Mental Health# out there especially today. This reminds me to go back to basics.
Eat well, sleep well, practice relaxation, breathe out fully to calm parasympathetic nervous system and spend time moving in fresh air. Embrace life.
This sounds rather simplistic,
but without these #anxiety disorders#, #PTSD#, #depression#, #long-term difficulties around loss#, long-term difficulties managing anxietys around #disordered eating/eating disorders# and #addictions# may develop.
Setting realistic, achievable #goals#, reminding yourself of your #resources#, #limiting worry time# to a particular time slot, using your #imagination# strictly to #visualize a healthy you# and #finding different explanations#,
#STRESSING THE POSITIVE#: Seek various explanations, edit out your own negative interpretations, remind yourself that this crisis will pass, counter negative actions and words from others, create your #own movie# how of you in your #preferred future#.
are the work I encourage clients to formulate in order to #take back control#
THIS IS CALLED #SOLUTION-FOCUSED CLINICAL THERAPY#

“Why should I be unhappy? Every parcel of my being is in full bloom” by Rumi
As solution-focused Hypnotherapists we reconnect our client with their rich and innate resources, that allowed them up til now to deal with life’s challenges effectively. When a client comes to the therapist while feeling stuck in a difficult spot, the therapist asks the client to describe how they not only survived but managed and problem-solved a previously challenging situation. This resourceful method is then brought in the here and now, to apply it. We call this building an Affect Bridge.
We all contain a parcel of resources in full bloom, that just needs sometimes re-connecting to once more.
“As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.”
Rumi’s quote resonates with Solution-focused, brief therapy. When one sets the therapeutic goal the steps which make up the way to it appear. By doing things differently, by interacting differently and by seeing one’s difficulties from a different perspective, the steps leading to the goal become clearer and clearer to the client.
THE POSITIVITY CHAIN
KEEP YOUR THOUGHTS POSITIVE
BECAUSE
YOUR THOUGHTS BECOME YOUR WORDS.
KEEP YOUR WORDS POSITIVE
BECAUSE
YOUR WORDS BECOME YOUR BEHAVIOUR.
KEEP YOUR BEHAVIOUR POSITIVE
BECAUSE
YOUR BEHAVIOUR BECOMES YOUR HABITS.
KEEP YOUR HABITS POSITIVE
BECAUSE YOUR HABITS BECOME YOUR VALUES.
KEEP YOUR VALUES POSITIVE
BECAUSE YOUR VALUES
BECAUSE YOUR VALUES BECOME YOUR DESTINY.
By Mahatma Gandhi
How does the traditional Hypnotherapist differ from a solution-focused clinical Hypnotherapist?
A metaphor might be the shortest way to show this difference.
A traditional Hypnotherapist is like a painter.
The Solution-focused clinical Hypnotherapist is like an Ophthalmologist.
The painter tries to convey a picture as HE sees it.
The Ophthalmologist enables and empowers client to see his/her world from different perspectives.
Traditional Hypnotherapists felt they had to unearth trauma, describe it to client, give explanations and directions to client. This is how they remained problem-focused. Solution-focused clinical Hypnotherapy believes that all clients are capable of defining their own therapeutic goals, and that they have the inner resources to formulate their own steps of change towards that set goal.
Above all solution-focused clinical Hypnotherapy as I practise it, is diametrically opposed to, has nothing in common with those forms of Hypnotherapy where the therapist uses suggestive questions or direct commands during the hypnotic trance work part of the session that can leave the client likely or vulnerable to develop or hold distorted or false memories. (My stance is based on the proven scientific knowledge that memories created during trance might become indistinguishable from memories based on actual events that occurred during subject’s life). I thus make sure that I do not violate the ethical principle of: FIRST, DO NO HARM.
